Ravinia Festival sits on a 36-acre park in Highland Park and runs its summer season from June into September — the CSO residency, pop and rock headliners, and lawn nights that draw thousands. Ravinia's on-site lots fill fast on popular nights, and the overflow plan pushes drivers into satellite lots or to the Metra, both of which mean carrying chairs, blankets, and a cooler a long way to the gate.

The Metra Union Pacific North line stops at the dedicated Ravinia Park station on concert nights, which is genuinely useful — but it ties you to the train schedule, packs you onto a crowded platform after the encore, and still leaves the suburban or city leg of the trip to sort out. The driver pulls up to the designated vehicle drop-off on Green Bay Road, you step out steps from the entrance, and after the show the vehicle is waiting in the same spot.
