Which Car Seat Do You Need?
Royal Carriage stocks every car seat type covered by Illinois law, from rear-facing infant seats to backless boosters for older children. Tell us your child's age and weight when you book and we will pre-stage the correct seat.

Illinois Car Seat Law, Plainly
Illinois statute 625 ILCS 25/4 sets three thresholds Royal Carriage meets on every ride:
- Under 2 years: rear-facing car seat, unless the child is at least 40 lb or 40 inches tall.
- 2 to 8 years: forward-facing harness seat or booster seat.
- Under 8 years and under 4 feet 9 inches: booster seat — high-back or backless depending on vehicle belt fit.
Drivers and parents can be fined for violations. Royal Carriage takes the question off your plate — the right seat for your child's age, weight, and height is in the car before you arrive.

Chauffeur stages the seat
Your assigned chauffeur picks up the right car seat type, installs it using LATCH, and confirms it is properly secured.

You get a verification photo
Before the chauffeur leaves for pickup, you receive a text with a photo of the installed seat in the vehicle.

Why Not Just Use Uber?
Uber Car Seat is available in New York City and Los Angeles. Not Chicago. Chicago families who try to book Uber with a car seat get standard UberX — no seat, no installation, no plan B.
Lyft does not offer a car-seat program. The few national car-seat-rideshare apps (Kidmoto, HopSkipDrive) operate in Chicago but with limited vehicle availability and surge pricing on high-demand days.
