For groups wanting a longer trip, Galena wine country is 2.5 hours northwest. The rolling hills and historic downtown make it a full weekend destination, but day trips work too. We drive you out, cover 3-4 Galena-area wineries, and have you back in Chicago by evening. Indiana dunes wineries offer another option, a 90-minute drive to a different wine scene with lake views.
The math makes sense for groups. A designated driver in your group misses out on every tasting. Rideshare between rural wineries does not work. A Sprinter van for 10 guests at $200/hour for 6 hours is $120 per person, less than most wine club memberships, and everyone gets to taste.
