Midway is the close-in airport on the Southwest Side, and the shortest run we do to the Loop. It's one compact terminal, so the walk from your gate to baggage claim is quick, and your driver is waiting there with a name sign — flight tracked, ready to grab the bags. The drive is just 10 miles, almost all of it a straight shot east on I-55 (the Stevenson Expressway) into downtown — 20 to 35 minutes, with rush hour adding about ten near the junction where the Stevenson meets the Dan Ryan and Lake Shore Drive. We drop you at the exact door: a Loop office building, a River North or West Loop hotel, a condo in Streeterville. Because the Stevenson feeds right into the south edge of downtown, this is often a faster trip than the same ride from O'Hare even though both end in the same place.

The Orange Line does run from Midway into the Loop, and it's inexpensive — but it's an L train with several stops, tight cars, and stairs you'll be managing with luggage before a walk or transfer to your actual hotel. In a suit before a meeting or tired off a flight, that's not the arrival you want.
