Medical Transport FAQ
Is this an ambulance or emergency service?
No. Royal Carriage provides non-emergency medical transportation only. We do not carry medical equipment, oxygen, or stretchers. For medical emergencies, call 911. Our service is for patients who can sit upright in a vehicle and need a reliable, comfortable ride to medical appointments.
Can the driver help me get in and out of the vehicle?
Yes. Our drivers provide arm support and assistance entering and exiting the vehicle. For passengers with limited mobility, our Escalades and Sprinters have wider doors and lower step-in heights. We cannot lift passengers or provide medical assistance.
Do you accept insurance or Medicaid?
We are a private-pay service. We do not bill insurance or Medicaid directly. However, we provide detailed receipts that some patients submit to their insurance for reimbursement. Check with your provider about out-of-network transportation benefits.
How do I set up recurring rides for dialysis?
Call (224) 801-3090 and tell us your dialysis schedule. We enter the recurring trips into our dispatch system. You get the same pickup time, same vehicle type, and we try to assign the same driver each visit. Changes or cancellations can be made 24 hours ahead.
What if my appointment runs long?
If your driver is waiting, additional time is billed at $1 per minute beyond the included wait period. If you booked a one-way trip, simply call or text when ready and we dispatch a return vehicle — usually within 20 minutes in the city.
Is Royal Carriage HIPAA-compliant for medical transportation?
Royal Carriage is a private ground transportation company — we are not a covered entity under HIPAA. We do not access, transmit, or store medical records or health information. Your booking details (name, address, appointment time) are kept confidential and used only for dispatch. We train drivers to maintain passenger privacy and discretion.
