Long Distance Service FAQ
What cities do you serve for long distance trips?+
Our most popular routes from Chicago include Milwaukee (92 mi), Madison (147 mi), Indianapolis (184 mi), Detroit (282 mi), and St. Louis (297 mi). We also serve any destination in the Midwest — contact us for a custom quote to cities not listed.
Are long distance rates truly flat, with no surprise charges?+
Yes. Our flat fares include tolls, fuel, and the chauffeur's time. The only addition is gratuity, which is at your discretion. We quote the total before you confirm, and that number does not change.
Can I make stops along the way?+
Absolutely. Rest stops, meal breaks, and brief detours are built into long distance trips at no extra charge. Just let us know your preferences when booking or tell your chauffeur during the ride.
What happens if my trip takes longer than expected due to traffic?+
Your flat fare holds regardless of traffic or weather delays. If the drive from Chicago to Indianapolis takes 3 hours instead of the usual 2 hours 50 minutes, your price stays the same.
Do you offer round trip or multi-day long distance service?+
Yes. We offer round trip with wait-and-return, where your chauffeur waits at the destination and drives you back. For multi-day trips, we arrange overnight accommodations for the chauffeur and offer daily rates.
When Long Distance Beats Flying
For a single traveler, a flight to Milwaukee or Indianapolis looks cheaper on paper — until you add the drive to O'Hare, the parking, the two-hour security buffer, the layover for any city without a direct flight, and the rental car or rideshare at the far end. For two or more people, a flat-fare car often wins outright. The 92-mile Milwaukee run is faster door-to-door than the airport shuffle, and the 147-mile Madison drive has no direct commercial flight worth taking. The trips on this page are the ones where the math tips toward a chauffeur: close enough to drive, far enough that you would rather not.
The flat fare is what makes it predictable. The number we quote for Chicago to Detroit holds whether the Borman backs up, whether it snows over the Indiana line, or whether the return runs an hour long. There is no airline change fee, no peak pricing multiplier, and no meter climbing in traffic — the price is set before you confirm and does not move.
Crossing State Lines, Legally
Every route on this page crosses at least one state line — Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, or Missouri — and that is not a trip most local sedan operators can legally make. Carrying a paying passenger across a state line requires federal interstate passenger authority. Royal Carriage operates under ICC interstate authority, so a Chicago pickup and an out-of-state drop is a properly licensed, commercially insured ride, not a favor that ends at the border. For corporate accounts, a certificate of insurance is available on request.
Our chauffeurs assigned to these routes are trained for the long haul and drive within DOT hours-of-service limits, which is why multi-day and overnight trips are arranged with the driver's rest built into the schedule rather than ignored. Rest stops and meal breaks on a one-day run are included at no extra charge — tell us when you book or your chauffeur en route.
Round Trip, One Way, or Multi-Day
Long-distance bookings come in three shapes. A one-way drop suits a relocation or a trip where you are flying home. Round-trip wait-and-return — where your chauffeur stays with the vehicle and drives you back when you are ready — is usually the better value for a day trip to Milwaukee, a Madison meeting, or a single game in Indianapolis, since you skip booking two separate one-way runs. For conferences and extended business travel, multi-day service arranges the chauffeur's overnight accommodations and a daily rate so the same vehicle and driver are with you for the whole trip.
Beyond the five headline cities, the Midwest is open territory: Cleveland, Columbus, Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Champaign, and points between are all custom-quoted on the same flat-rate, tolls-and-fuel- included basis. Give us the destination and the date and we will price the run before you commit.
