Standard Chicago limo driver tip is 15-20% of the base fare. The base fare is the hourly rate × hours, NOT including tolls, parking pass-throughs, or fuel surcharges. On a $400 base fare, the tip is $60-80. On a $1,200 base, the tip is $180-240.

When the Tip Is Already Included

At many operators, wedding packages, prom packages, and corporate accounts include the tip in the package price. For airport upfront rates, the tip is almost never included, it’s added at the end. When in doubt, check the receipt: a line for ‘gratuity’ or ‘driver tip’ is the indicator.

When to Round Up

Wedding-Day Tipping

Wedding-day tipping for the limo driver: at operators that charge a package gratuity (usually 18-20%), riders often add $50-150 per driver on top. The driver typically worked a 6-10 hour wedding day with photo stops, ceremony-time waiting, and after-reception getaway driving. The round-up acknowledges the day, not just the hours.
