If you are flying private into or out of Chicago, the ground transportation side needs to match. You are not walking through a commercial terminal — you are landing at an FBO, walking off the jet, and expecting a car to be there. Here is how it works at Chicago's two airports and how Royal Carriage handles private aviation clients.
FBO Locations at O'Hare (ORD)
O'Hare has three primary FBOs for private aviation:
Signature Flight Support — 825 Patton Dr, Chicago The largest FBO at O'Hare. Located on the south side of the airfield, accessible from Mannheim Road. Signature handles the bulk of private jet traffic at ORD. The facility has a passenger lounge, conference rooms, customs processing for international arrivals, and hangar space. Ground transportation pulls up directly to the FBO entrance — your car is 30 feet from the aircraft.
Atlantic Aviation — 11601 W Touhy Ave, Chicago On the north side of the airfield, off Touhy Avenue near the Bessie Coleman Drive entrance. Atlantic runs a smaller operation than Signature but the service is personal. The ramp is less congested, which means faster taxi times for your aircraft and quicker turns for your ground car.
Priester Aviation — Based at Chicago Executive (PWK) Technically at Wheeling/Prospect Heights, not O'Hare, but many private flyers use Chicago Executive Airport (PWK) instead of ORD to avoid the traffic and taxi delays of a major hub. Priester runs the FBO operation at PWK. It is 25 miles northwest of downtown — about 35-45 minutes by car depending on traffic.
For clients choosing between ORD and PWK: if your meeting is on the North Shore or north suburbs, PWK saves significant time. If you are heading downtown or to the south side, ORD is the better play.
FBO Locations at Midway (MDW)
Signature Flight Support — 5535 S Cicero Ave, Chicago The primary FBO at Midway. Smaller facility than the ORD Signature location, but Midway's advantage is proximity to downtown. You are 10 miles from the Loop. On a good day, your car has you at your hotel in 20 minutes.
Atlantic Aviation — 6201 S Archer Ave, Chicago Atlantic's Midway location handles overflow and scheduled charter traffic. The Archer Avenue access is straightforward and avoids the Cicero Avenue congestion that plagues the main terminal.
Midway is a strong choice for private jet travel when your destination is downtown, the South Loop, Hyde Park, or the south/southwest suburbs. O'Hare FBOs are better for north and northwest destinations.
What Tarmac-Side Service Means
When we say tarmac-side, we mean your car pulls onto the FBO ramp and parks next to the aircraft. You walk off the jet, your chauffeur opens the door, your luggage goes from the plane to the trunk, and you are on the road. No terminal. No baggage claim. No TSA lines.
This requires coordination between our dispatch, the FBO, and the flight crew. Here is how we handle it:
- You book the car with your flight details — tail number, FBO, and estimated arrival time.
- Our dispatch contacts the FBO to confirm ramp access credentials and any security requirements. O'Hare FBOs require advance badging for ramp vehicles. Midway is slightly less restrictive but still requires approval.
- We track your flight using FlightAware and direct FBO communication. Private flights do not always show on commercial tracking apps, so we confirm directly with the FBO operations desk.
- The car stages at the FBO 15-20 minutes before your estimated arrival. When wheels are down and you taxi to the ramp, the car is there.
- Luggage transfer is handled by your chauffeur and the FBO line service crew. You do not touch a bag.
For departures, the process reverses. We drive you onto the ramp, your bags go from the trunk to the aircraft, and you board. Total time from car to aircraft: under 5 minutes.
Vehicle Selection for Private Aviation
Our private aviation clients primarily book three vehicles:
Executive Sedan — The Lincoln Continental or Mercedes S-Class. Solo travelers or executives heading to a single meeting. Clean, quiet, and fast.
Cadillac Escalade — Families, small groups, or anyone with excess luggage. The Escalade fits 5 passengers plus golf bags, ski equipment, or multiple large suitcases.
Sprinter Van — Groups of 6-10, corporate teams arriving on a larger charter. The Sprinter has executive seating, WiFi, and enough space for a dozen bags.
Every vehicle is black exterior, maintained to a standard that matches the FBO experience. We do not send a vehicle to the ramp that looks like it belongs in an airport taxi line.
Corporate Account Benefits
Most of our private aviation business comes through corporate accounts. Here is what that includes:
- Priority dispatch — your car is never late, even on short notice
- Dedicated account manager — one person who knows your preferences, your frequent routes, and your schedule
- Consolidated billing — monthly invoices with trip details, not individual credit card charges
- Guest booking — your EA or travel coordinator books on your behalf with a single call or email
- Multi-city coordination — we partner with vetted operators in other markets if you need ground transportation at your destination
Our corporate transportation program is built for executives who fly private regularly and expect the ground side to run the same way.
Security and Discretion
Private aviation clients often require a higher level of privacy. Our chauffeurs are background-checked, drug-tested, and trained on discretion. We do not share client itineraries, flight details, or travel patterns. NDA agreements are available for clients who require them.
Airport Car Service
Not flying private? We run the same level of service for commercial airport car service at both O'Hare and Midway — flight tracking, meet-and-greet, flat-rate pricing.
